About
DEAN DURMAN
Founder & Lead Practitioner
For more than two decades, I lived in the world of IT — building systems, solving problems, and leading teams. But life has a way of breaking us open. A season of deep adversity brought me face‑to‑face with my own limits… and ultimately, with my calling.
What rose from that season became One to the Power 3 — a space where men can breathe again, speak freely, and rebuild from the inside out.
Today, I am a counsellor, coach, and mentor registered with the ACA and CCAA, holding a Diploma in Counselling and currently pursuing my Master’s.
My heart now is to help men who find themselves in their darkest moments and speak words of hope:
"You are not alone, you are loved, you are worthy,
and you have greatness inside of you."

Dean's Story
I know what the floor feels like...I've hit rock bottom
And I know there is a way back up.
On 12 March 2011, a tyre blowout at speed ended in a wreck that should have ended my life.
Both lungs punctured. Spine broken in three places. Paralysed from the knees down. A trauma surgeon gave my wife Jacqui a quiet warning in the elevator on the way to the ICU:
"Pray because the next 24 hours are critical."
I survived. But what followed was in many ways harder than the accident itself. Eight hours of spinal surgery. A month in hospital. Three months of rehabilitation, surrounded by broken people and brokenness. I would cry myself to sleep. Before I could even attempt walking, I had to learn how to crawl again.
And somewhere inside all of that — the depression, the despair, on the floor of a gymnasium — I reached the end of my tether. I wanted to give up.
"I could feel the darkness closing in. I wanted to throw in the towel and just die."
We have all been there. On the floor. In the dark. Down and out. With nothing left.
In that moment, something happened. I heard a still, small voice — a gentle whisper, yet so powerful it stopped the darkness in its tracks.
But then the Heavenly Father spoke right into my pain:
"You are my son. I love you. And I am drawing you closer to me."
Something shifted within me. My identity was revealed in my darkest moment, and courage rose within me. Determination and tenacity followed.
I was not going to go quietly. I was going to fight with everything I had. I started to look up.
The recovery that followed touched every part of me — spiritual, mental, emotional, physical. It taught me that healing is never linear. It demands honesty, vulnerability, good people, and a safe place to land.
Just like a pearl is formed from a wound, a mandate was formed in the depths of my pain — to come alongside men who are in despair.
That is why One to the Power 3 was born. That is why I sit across from men today. I know what it is to hit rock bottom and find a way up — and I built this practice to be a safe space for men to walk that same road, together.
If you are carrying something right now — whether it is heavy or just beginning to feel that way — you do not have to carry it alone. You do not have to have it all figured out. You just have to take one step.
